On behalf of the Surry County Republican Party, I would like to thank the challengers and congratulate the winners of the May 8 Primary Election.  Please join me in supporting our Republican candidates in the November 6 General Election. The Surry County Republican Party intends to win each and every one of these races and would appreciate your help.  We will hold a candidate meet and greet on Thursday, May 31 at 6:30 P.M. at our Headquarters at 482 Mayberry Mall in Mount Airy. Please come out and meet your Republican candidates and fellowship with refreshments provided by the Party.  The following Republican candidates either won the Primary election or were unopposed.
 
 
  • Surry County Clerk of Superior Court - Neil Brendle (faces a Democrat challenger in November) 
  • Central District Commissioner - Mark Marion (unopposed in November)
  • Mount Airy District Commissioner - Bill Goins (unopposed in November)
  • South District Commissioner - Eddie Harris (unopposed in the Primary, faces a Democrat challenger in November)
  • Surry County Sheriff - Steve Hiatt (faces a Democrat challenger in November)
  • U.S. House District 5 - Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (faces a Democrat challenger in November)
  • NC Senate District 45 - Senator Deanna Ballard (representing 15 Precincts in Surry County, faces a Democrat challenger in November)
  • NC Senate District 30 - Senator Phil Berger (unopposed in the Primary and representing 14 Precincts in Surry County, faces a Democrat challenger in November)
  • NC House District 90 - Representative Sarah Stevens (representing 18 Precincts in Surry County, faces a Democrat challenger in November)
  • NC House Disitrict 91 - Representative Kyle Hall (unopposed in the Primary and representing 11 Precincts in Surry County, faces a Democrat challenger in November)

*Footnote - Judicial candidates do not file until June, so we will address those at a later date.
